The Wealth Divide Workshop
Our society is faced with an ever increasing disparity in the distribution of wealth. Discussion is needed to understand how wealth should be more fairly distributed. In this workshop in economic education, Carolyn and John help bridge misunderstanding and miscommunication through an exploration of the wealth divide, its roots and possible solutions.
The Growing Wealth Divide: Inequality and the Roots of Economic Insecurity
The workshop was created by United for a Fair Economy
• focuses discussion and strategizing on the wealthiest 1% of our country (who now control about 1/3 of our nation’s wealth, more than the bottom 90% combined).
• looks at the depth of the inequality problem in terms of its impact on our lives and the lives of the people we care about.
• examines the policy changes in the last 30 years which dramatically widened the gap.
• reviews the inspiring history of popular movements in the US to reverse inequality.
• discusses possible personal and collective actions to help build a nationwide movement for a fair economy.
Carolyn completed the four-day train-the-trainer workshop offered by United for a Fair Economy to learn the format for this workshop. Her communication training background provides her with the skills to lead this highly interactive program.
